Lekan Balogun was born in October 1942.

Career

Lekan Balogun worked briefly before enrolling for his PhD at Ahmadu Bello University. He lectured at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

He ventured into business and has served as a member of board of directors of several businesses across different sectors.

Lekan Balogun joined politics and registered with Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and later defected to the Nigerian People’s Party (NPP).

In 1999, Lekan Balogun was elected to represent Oyo Central in the Nigerian senate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He left the Nigerian senate in 2003.

He was the Mogaji to the Olubadan of Ibadan.

In 2021, Lekan Balogun was appointed to succeed Oba Adetunji as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan.

Education

Lekan Balogun studied English and Social Studies, gaining a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) at the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts and master’s degree (with Distinction) in Theatre Arts from the Department of Creative Arts, University of Lagos, Akoka, Nigeria.
